What this is
“I’m Still Living” is a free weekly letter. This page explains exactly what I collect, what I don’t, how I use it, and how you remove yourself from the list — written in plain English instead of legal boilerplate, with the specific disclosures required by U.S. federal law and the states that regulate email the most strictly.
What I collect
When you sign up, I collect the email address you type into the form and the source tag (“hero” or “tail”) that tells me which form on the page you used. That’s it. No name, no phone number, no address, no location, no demographic data.
My web server logs keep a standard record of page requests (IP address, timestamp, page URL, user-agent string) for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention. I do not join those logs to your email address.
What I don’t collect
- No advertising pixels on this site. No Meta pixel, no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no third-party tracking scripts of any kind.
- No first- or third-party advertising cookies.
- No precise geolocation, no biometric data, no health data, no financial account data.
- No data from people under the age of 13.
How I use your email
Only to send you the letter and administrative messages about your subscription — confirmation, delivery, receipt, and unsubscribe handling. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer.
Who I share it with
Two processors, both under a written data-processing agreement:
- Listmonk, self-hosted on the publisher’s own server — the subscriber database and list manager.
- Mailgun (or another equivalent email service provider, disclosed here if the sender changes) — the service that physically delivers the email.
I do not sell your email address. I do not rent it, trade it, or swap it with anyone. I do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, affiliates, or analytics providers.
Double opt-in
Subscription is double opt-in. After you submit your email, you receive a confirmation link. If you don’t click it, you are not added to the list.
How to unsubscribe
- Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.
- Or email me directly at douglas@cloudaismart.com with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line. I’ll remove you within 48 hours.
Per the federal CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.), unsubscribe requests are honored within 10 business days at the latest.
Your rights
Children
This site is not directed to, and I do not knowingly collect data from, anyone under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a minor has subscribed, email me and I will delete the record.
Data retention
Active subscribers remain on the list until they unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, the email address is retained in a suppression list — required to honor anti-abuse and future unsubscribe requests — but is not used for sending.
