What this is

“I’m Still Living” is a free weekly letter. This page explains exactly what I collect, what I don’t, how I use it, and how you remove yourself from the list — written in plain English instead of legal boilerplate, with the specific disclosures required by U.S. federal law and the states that regulate email the most strictly.

What I collect

When you sign up, I collect the email address you type into the form and the source tag (“hero” or “tail”) that tells me which form on the page you used. That’s it. No name, no phone number, no address, no location, no demographic data.

My web server logs keep a standard record of page requests (IP address, timestamp, page URL, user-agent string) for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention. I do not join those logs to your email address.

What I don’t collect

How I use your email

Only to send you the letter and administrative messages about your subscription — confirmation, delivery, receipt, and unsubscribe handling. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer.

Who I share it with

Two processors, both under a written data-processing agreement:

I do not sell your email address. I do not rent it, trade it, or swap it with anyone. I do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, affiliates, or analytics providers.

Double opt-in

Subscription is double opt-in. After you submit your email, you receive a confirmation link. If you don’t click it, you are not added to the list.

How to unsubscribe

Per the federal CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.), unsubscribe requests are honored within 10 business days at the latest.

Your rights

California residents You have the rights granted under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA): to know what data I hold about you, to request correction, to request deletion, and to request a copy of the data. Submit any of those requests to douglas@cloudaismart.com — I respond within 45 days. I do not “sell” or “share” (as those terms are defined under the CCPA) personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no Global Privacy Control signal to honor because there is no such data sharing taking place.
Washington State residents The Washington My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373) regulates “consumer health data.” I do not collect, infer, or process consumer health data on this site, and I have configured the site to decline to collect any such data. If you believe any data collected about you is covered by the Act, email me and I will remove it and confirm in writing.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and other comprehensive-privacy jurisdictions I rely on your explicit consent (the act of confirming your email) as the lawful basis for processing, and on legitimate interest for basic server logs. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing me.

Children

This site is not directed to, and I do not knowingly collect data from, anyone under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a minor has subscribed, email me and I will delete the record.

Data retention

Active subscribers remain on the list until they unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, the email address is retained in a suppression list — required to honor anti-abuse and future unsubscribe requests — but is not used for sending.
